Add Elephant Breakdown to your policy when you get a quote. Elephant offers three levels of breakdown, so you can choose the cover that's right for you:
- Roadside Assistance
- National Cover
- European Cover
How do I buy it?
If you are an Elephant customer, just contact our customer services on 0333 220 2006 and your cover will start 48 hours later. Alternatively, you can buy Breakdown cover when you get a quote for your car insurance.
Lines are open 8am-6pm weekdays, 10am-4pm Saturdays and Sundays. Calls to 03 numbers will cost no more than calls to national geographic numbers (starting 01 or 02) from both mobiles and landlines.
Unlimited UK Nationwide Recovery
We don't believe you need to compromise on great cover to get a good deal. So we included Unlimited UK nationwide recovery on all our Breakdown Cover options. You can have as many call-outs as you need. The only small difference is on Roadside Assistance Cover where recovery is within 10 miles of the breakdown.
Home assist
What happens if your car breaks down at home? Don't worry, National and European Breakdown Cover includes unlimited Home Assists per policy term, which covers any breakdown within a quarter of a mile radius/straight line of your home address.

What’s included in Elephant Breakdown Cover?
Whichever level you choose, Elephant Breakdown comes with these benefits as standard.
Named drivers
We cover the car shown on your policy no matter if it's your or a named driver behind the wheel.
Message service
We can let your family or work know if you're running late because you've broken down.
Caravan and trailer cover
We recover caravans and trailers up to 8ft 3in wide and 3.5t in weight.
Lost or broken keys
If your keys are lost or broken in the breakdown, we'll move your car to the nearest garage or location of choice, within 10 miles of the breakdown.
Misfuel assist
If you put the wrong fuel in your car, we'll either drain it for you or take it to the nearest repairer. We'll also give you 10 litres of fuel so you can continue your trip.
Alternative transport
You'll get a hire car (up to 1600cc) for up to three days to allow you to complete your journey.
Overnight accommodation
We’ll arrange overnight accommodation including breakfast for you and your passengers up to £150 per person (£600 total) while your vehicle is being repaired.
Electric vehicles
Includes cover for electric vehicles.
